Hookless rim improves strength

Building a carbon cross-country wheel is significantly more expensive than aluminum, but feedback from our athletes tells us that the performance doesn't always justify the expense. For this reason, we designed the Crossmax Pro Carbon to be significantly lighter and laterally stiffer than the alloy version, yet equally impact-resistant and, most importantly, with the vertical compliance needed to achieve the ride quality that has always been the hallmark of the Crossmax name.
Using our proprietary Finite Element Simulation software, we pushed the envelope to create a carbon construction that perfectly balances these attributes. To accommodate the most common cross-country tire widths (2.1" to 2.35"), we designed a 23mm-wide front rim for tires with stable sidewalls even under hard cornering and a 23mm-wide rear rim for optimized power and acceleration. These UST wheels offer improved traction, increased puncture resistance, and great comfort, with a specially designed rim tape sealing. The asymmetric rims allow for balanced tensioning of the 24 double-butted steel spokes, achieving the perfect balance between lateral stiffness and vertical compliance.
Weighing just 1450g for the 27.5" version and 1510g for the 29", the Crossmax Pro Carbon has managed to meet the demands of professional athletes who have stood on the podium steps of the Tour du Monde. The hubs are compatible with standard (15 x 100 and 12 x 142) and Boost (15 x 110 and 12 x 148) sizes.
