Pertex nylon was used for its ability to breathe, resist wind and, thanks to the DWR coating, also resist water.
To improve its durability on the mountain, special abrasion-resistant panels have been added to the arm area, so the fabric doesn't tear easily when you're hurtling down a trail at full speed.
