Features
THINK FASTER: The Epic World Cup is the fastest XC race bike on flowy courses, thanks to an unmatched combination of efficiency, control, and light weight. Champion Christopher puts it this way: “This bike gives me everything I could want from a hardtail, with the added control and capability of a full suspension.” To create this race machine, we took a fully integrated development approach, inventing an entirely new shock, and drawing on four decades of winning on the off-road stage.
BENCHMARK FRAME: To achieve maximum speed through perfect power transfer efficiency and ultra-precise handling, our engineering team set the bar for torsional and bottom bracket stiffness. The double diamond layout is the most sophisticated in Specialized's history, and supports this stiffness goal by integrating the shock absorber as a structural element.
FAST SUSPENSION: The Specialized Ride Dynamics Team developed revolutionary technology for the Epic World Cup to give it the efficiency and responsiveness of a hardtail, combined with the control and capability of a full suspension bike. The RockShox SID Deluxe WCID (World Cup Integrated Design) shock absorber with independently adjustable positive and negative air springs gives the Epic WC the coveted hardtail snap, combined with terrain-eating lightness and the ability to adjust the setup for a specific trail or personal preference.
BEYOND ITS CLASS: The Epic World Cup's 75mm of travel feels like much more. When ridden in firm mode, it offers the same plush travel as a 100mm-travel bike set to 25% sag. Optimized air volume and damping characteristics allow the Epic WC to handle bumps like a longer-travel bike. The custom MegaJounce bump stopper provides robust bottom-out support to handle the heaviest impacts.
BRAIN: While the revolutionary SID Deluxe WCID shock provides the perfect blend of compliance and firmness in the rear end, in the fork the BRAIN is alive and well, with Position-Sensitive technology and 15mm of sag, with no lockout or levers to manipulate.
LIGHTWEIGHT: With a frame weighing just 1765 grams (painted, with shock and hardware), the Epic World Cup is the lightest on the market. This lightness translates into explosive acceleration, extremely efficient climbing, and surprising handling. The sum of these characteristics is speed. We were able to design such a light yet stiff frame thanks to what we learned from designing the Aethos, particularly regarding the carbon layup.
- The new Epic World Cup with Ride Dynamics Developed Suspension Technology has 75mm of rear wheel travel. Thanks to the new technology, pedaling is highly efficient, making this Epic ready for the most challenging descents.
- The SRAM GX drivetrain is high-performance and robust, perfect for the brutal courses of XC racing.
- SID SL fork with Brain, 110mm travel.
- Roval Control carbon wheels with a hookless design and 29mm internal width. They are durable, lightweight, and offer perfect ride quality.
