What do the high torque loads on an eBike do to the chain & how does Lube combat this?

The high torque loads on an eBike will wear the chain much quicker than a regular bicycle, due to the instantaneous and consistent increases in power from the motor. This puts more stress on the chain and sprockets, leading to higher friction due to more metal-on-metal contact, which will cause wear if the correct lubricant isn’t used. Our eBike Lubes have been developed to combat this, due to their unique blend of synthetic oils, a high level of specific additives & Boron Nitride, meaning they will last longer & reduce friction throughout the Drivetrain, even under greater loads.

If there’s greater wear on the eBike chain, does using eBike Lube mean the chain will wear the same as a regular bicycle?

Using our eBike Lubes will help to drastically reduce friction when riding and will keep the chain running smoother for much longer than a traditional Lube, however there will always be greater stresses on the chain due to the pedal assist motor which reduces the life of any chain more than on a regular bicycle.

Is the Lubrication interval the same as a regular bicycle?

We recommend you Clean & Re-Lube your eBike chain more often, as often as possible… after every ride, if feasible. Doing this will prolong the life of your chain and other Drivetrain components, which can be expensive to fix.

What is Boron Nitride, and what does it do?

Boron Nitride is an advanced particle found in our lubricant. It offers greater levels of durability and wear resistance, as well as excellent Lubricating properties. It forms a stable tribofilm, which is crucial for achieving the enhanced tribological performance required of an eBike specific lubricant.

What is the eBike additive pack?

Our 'ebike additive pack' is the mix of extreme pressure additives that we put in our ebike lubricants. It serves to reduce wear, even with the high torques of ebike motors. So you have top protection on all treated parts.

HOW TO USE
1 - Degrease and dry the chain completely.
2 - Shake the bottle vigorously and apply the lubricant ensuring that every part of the chain is treated.
3 - Ideally apply 3-4 hours before your ride.
4 - Remove excess with a cloth.
5 - Avoid contact with brakes.
6 - Store in a cool, dry place.
