Tarmac SL8 Pro
Shimano Ultegra Di2
No bike is as fast as the Tarmac SL8, thanks to a combination of aerodynamics, light weight, and ride quality previously thought impossible. After eight generations and over two decades of development, it's not just the fastest Tarmac ever: it's the fastest race bike in the world. Are your legs ready?
Aerodynamics or light weight alone don't win races: what matters is speed. To achieve this speed requires an uncompromising combination of aerodynamics, light weight, stiffness, and compliance. Using complex simulations using real-world data, our Ride Science Team has verified that the Tarmac SL8 is the fastest road bike on any course: 16.6 seconds over 40 km on the flat, 128 seconds faster on the Milan-San Remo course, 20 seconds faster on the Tourmalet climb.
AERODYNAMICS: We use aerodynamics where it matters most, and in the process, we've created our fastest road bike ever—yes, even more aerodynamic than the Venge. The front end has been optimized for maximum advantage. The fork's edge is positioned further back than the front of the frame's head tube, resulting in significantly lower aerodynamic drag. Thanks to new UCI regulations, the SL8 was able to use the narrowest and most aerodynamic seatpost we've ever made, ensuring that turbulent air in the leg area flows more easily toward the rear of the bike.
LIGHTWEIGHT: To create the Tarmac SL8 and build the most aerodynamic bike while meeting the UCI's minimum weight requirement, we drew on what we learned from the Aethos. The team achieved a 685-gram frame, 15% lighter than the Tarmac SL7 and lighter than any other World Tour bike*. Focusing on minimizing weight in the downtube, seat tube, and tailtube, we incorporated lessons learned into the Aethos design. The frame's shapes respond so efficiently to stresses and strains that we were able to reduce material thickness and eliminate unnecessary material. *With the exception of one time when Kasper Asgreen rode our 585-gram Aethos during a Tour stage.
RIDE QUALITY: The Tarmac SL8's stiffness-to-weight ratio is 33% better than the SL7. The Tarmac SL8 sets a new benchmark for handling: it's precise in the most demanding situations and responds instantly and efficiently to pedal inputs. While the areas that ensure power transfer and steering precision are stiffer than ever, the Tarmac SL8 feels more comfortable in the saddle, filtering 6% more shocks from the ground, allowing you to attack corners with a feeling of agility and poise unlike any other road bike. The new Tarmac SL8 retains the proven geometry of the SL7, with the same generous 32mm tire clearance, so you can run larger tires when needed.
BEYOND GENDER: In reality, there can be far more differences between two male cyclists than between a man and a woman. We design for the individual, and our philosophy is simple: Don't create differences where none exist. Every cyclist, male or female, can benefit from the advantages of the Tarmac SL8. It's time to go beyond.
The Tarmac SL8 Pro features a Shimano Ultegra 8100 Di2 groupset with powermeter, tubeless ready Roval Rapide CL II wheels, an SL7 stem with Roval Rapide handlebars – ready to race.
