The soft, three-dimensional surface traps warm air in conical cushions ("buffer cones"), thus creating an insulating layer. Unlike common fleece fabrics, Buffercone fabric has a variable density. By mapping the distribution of heat produced by the human body, it is possible to create zones of high, medium, and low insulating power.
